TunnelTech 2025 India: A Great Success
TunnelTech 2025 held at Hotel Le Méridien, Gurgaon, India was a resounding success, bringing together industry leaders, experts, and innovators to discuss the latest advancements in tunneling technology. The event featured insightful discussions, exclusive presentations, and networking opportunities that highlighted groundbreaking solutions in tunnel engineering, efficiency, and sustainability. With significant contributions from Indian tunneling experts and global partners, TunnelTech 2025 set new benchmarks for the future of underground infrastructure. This milestone event underscored the growing importance of modern tunneling solutions in driving connectivity and economic development across South Asia. Special appreciation goes to Dr. Manoj Verman and all participants for making this event a defining moment in tunneling excellence. Dr. Ranjan Kumar Dahal, Convener ARC-15 of IAEG, attended the program and spoke about the upcoming ARC-15 of IAEG, scheduled to take place from November 27-29, 2025, in Kathmandu, Nepal. Prof. Vassilis Marinos is the 2023 – 2026 President of the International Association of Engineering Geology and the Environment (IAEG).He holds a Doctoral Degree from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), School of Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Division, an MSc in Engineering Geology with Distinction from Imperial College and a bachelor’s degree in Geology from the University of Athens (1st in graduation list).

Prof. Shuichi Hasegawa is a distinguished engineering geologist affiliated with Kagawa University in Takamatsu, Japan. His research has significantly contributed to understanding landslide hazards in the Nepal Himalaya, focusing on disaster management in mountainous terrains.

Ann Williams, a Professional Engineering Geologist and Technical Fellow at Beca Ltd, has 30+ years of experience in geotechnical risk management for infrastructure projects. She specializes in landslide risk assessment and mitigation across New Zealand and the Pacific. A former Chair of the New Zealand Geotechnical Society, she also served as IAEG Vice President (Australasia).

Dr. Muhammad Qumrul Hassan is an esteemed Honorary Professor in the Department of Geology at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Dr. Hassan co-authored a study assessing groundwater suitability for drinking purposes in the rapidly urbanizing Gazipur District of Bangladesh, highlighting concerns over industrial contamination.

Professor Manchao He is a distinguished Chinese geologist and academician, renowned for his significant contributions to geomechanics and underground engineering. Univ.Prof. Mag.rer.nat Dr.sc.nat. Christian Zangerl is a distinguished geologist specializing in engineering geology and rock mechanics who currently leads the Institute of Applied Geology at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) in Vienna, Austria. He co-authored a study on the structure and formation of brittle discontinuities in anisotropic crystalline rocks of the Central Gotthard Massif, Switzerland.

Dr. Shahid Azam is a Professor of Environmental Systems Engineering at the University of Regina, Canada. He specializes in geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering focusing on the characterization and improvement of geomaterials such as slurries, soils, and rocks. His research interests encompass sustainable mine waste management, including tailings dams and waste rock dumps.

Shengwen Qi is a professor at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), where he directs the Key Laboratory of Shale Gas and Geoengineering. He serves as Acting Vice President for Asia of the International Association for Engineering Geology and the Environment (IAEG) since June 2024.
He will be giving his Keynote on : Geological Environment and GeoDisasters in Qinghai–Xizang Plateau, China

Professor Trilok Nath Singh is a distinguished geotechnical engineer with over 22 years of experience in teaching and research. He has made significant contributions to the study of rock mechanics and the petrophysical properties of Indian rocks, particularly in relation to carbon dioxide storage. He has also guided numerous doctoral theses, addressing critical topics such as slope stability analysis in vulnerable landslide zones.

Exciting News: Successful Completion of 15th ARC and YNGC Promotional Campaign at Daffodil International University (DIU)
The 15th Asian Regional Conference (ARC) of IAEG and Young National Geoscience Conference (YNGC) 2025 promotional campaign was successfully held at Daffodil International University (DIU) organized by IAEG Bangladesh National Group and co-organized by IAEG YEG JU and WEG_BNG. The event featured insightful presentations by Atm Shakhawat Hossain (IAEG_BNG President), Dr. Mahmuda Rikta (WEG_BNG) and Asmaul Miad who introduced the upcoming YEG 1st National Geoscience Conference & Exhibition 2025. Honored guests included Dr. Hasan Imam(Member of IAEG-BNG) and Md. Emdadul Haque (Vice-President, IAEG_BNG) with the session presided over by the Honorable DEAN of DIU. Special appreciation goes to Mahfuza Parveen, Director of ESDM, DIU for her invaluable support. The event, beautifully anchored by an ESDM student received an overwhelmingly positive response from students and faculty. We look forward to seeing them at the conference!

ARC-15 Update: Extended Abstract submission for ARC-15 is now Open
Extended Abstracts (2 pages) of only those authors or presenters who have already paid their registration fee within the deadline will be published in the Special Issue of Volume 2 of the Asian Journal of Engineering Geology, which will be distributed to all the registered participants during the conference. We are accepting two-page Extended Abstracts for ARC-15 of IAEG. You are invited to submit your abstract for presentation at ARC-15.
While submitting, please select the “ARC15 Extended Abstract” section (limited to 2 pages only). - 30 January 2025: Initiation of Extended Abstract Submission for ARC-15 of IAEG.
- 30 October 2025: Last date for submission of Extended Abstracts.

- 30 January 2025: Conference 2nd circular and registration open with Extended Abstract (two pages) submission and payment of early bird registration fee.
- 15 June 2025: Conference early bird registration fee payment deadline.
- 30 August 2025: Conference 3rd circular and submission of full paper for peer review.
- 15 October 2025: Conference 4th circular.
- 30 October 2025: Final Extended Abstract (two pages) submission.

- 27 November 2025: Conference on-site registration and full payment of registration fee.
